On our walk Sun 6 Feb 2023, we stopped at Bettws Newydd Church for our lunch break as we have done several times before when walking in this area. Coincidentally we were joined later by another group who were also walking in the area. We were asked, by one of the volunteers who welcomed us, to fill in the visitors book in support of their appeals for funds to maintain the church. I hope this post will encourage other walking groups to visit the church and to show how much the work of the community is valued. The ethic of ‘helping weary travelers’ still holds strong although the nature of the travelers has changed in the present age. Often we stop at rural churches to take our lunch break and venture inside (if our boots are not too muddy!). A big thank you to all the volunteers who help maintain these buildings from the Ramblers’ Community.
