DESCRIPTION:A 5 mile walk on tarmac surfaces avoiding rain soaked ground. The route takes us up the Penrhos Cutting.  We walk through the estate\, alongside the lake and then follow Gypsy Lane up to Groeswen.  The route brings us back down to our start point. \nThe starting point is a new one in Tawelfryn\, Nantgarw. Follow the Caerphilly by-pass towards the A 470.  After the Garden Centre Roundabout follow the dual carriageway but turn right at the traffic lights into the housing estate and then immediately left.  (Some  will remember this as the old Caerphilly-Nantgarw road).  Alternatively coming along the A470\,\, leave at the Nantgarw turn off and follow the Caerphilly road  up to the traffic lights. \nhttps://what3words.com///prom.indeed.prefer \nThis walk is based on the route of the Red Kite pub walk which we did several years ago.

After passing through Llanover (watch speed limits) parking is in a lay -by on the right.  If you reach the turning for Beili Glas you have gone too far. Estimated 35 mins from Ystrad Mynach (AA). \nThe walk takes us through Llanover Estatw where hopefully we will see the lovely daffodils.  Walking poles are recommended as there are a few ascents and descents which could be slippery.

DESCRIPTION:The walks starts in Tawelfryn\, Nantgarw. Following the dual carriageway from the Caerphilly Garden Centre roundabout\, turn right at the traffic lights into the estate and then immediately left. (Those coming along the A470 will need to turn up the hill towards Caerphilly and then right at the traffic lights.) \nhttps://what3words.com///prom.indeed.prefer \nThe walk takes us down the old road and across the footbridge over the A470.  We descend to the roundabout on the main road.  Here we pick up the footpath on the old railway embankment which leads us to Taffs Well.  Here we cross the river and follow the path on the Gwaelod -y-Garth side of the Taff recrossing river on the footbridge at the south of the town. Here we pick up the the Taff Trail past the new Metro Depot. .  We leave this to the right and make our way to the higher Taff Trail\, which brings us back to our start in Nantgarw.

We come down near Eglwysilan and take the lane to Abertridwr. We follow the track of the old railway line to the road near St Cenydd School\,  Here we take the lane past the Angel pub. This takes is in the direction of Groeswen but we turn down Gypsy Lane to Caerphilly Garden Centre where we turn right and follow the lane past the cemetery and the back of the GE plant to our start.
